I would like my nature
to be like a
banyan tree,
I may not bloom
in vibrant colors,
nor spread
enticing fragrance,
I may not bear
sweet delicious fruits,
nor satiate
appetite of needy ones,
but can spread
myself out,
widely spanning
into a canopy,
to give a whiff
of cooling breeze,
to give solace to
a tired soul,
to cool down
frayed nerves,
under sprawling
soothing shade,
where weary sit
down to relax,
recuperating to
comfort sore soles;
I would like my
nature
to be like a
mountain stream,
happily gurgling
on the way of life,
bubbling with
zest and energy,
never stopping to
ponder and worry,
sidestepping
obstacles with ease,
a source of
inspiration for all to see,
accumulating in
the journey,
minerals of
wisdom and knowledge,
to soothe thirst
of parched throats,
helping on the
way to seed the soil,
for future
prosperity and growth,
knowing well that
my life course,
will lose its
individual identity,
merge as one of
many streams,
in this big
world’s mighty rivers,
to be ultimately
submerged,
in the ocean of
eternity;
I would like me to
be
like a roadside milestone,
proudly embedded
on the side,
place to sit
& look ahead,
to sit with and
feel at peace,
of a person to go
to with ease,
with no fear of
getting fleeced,
someone who will
just lend an ear,
will not judge
impose his beliefs,
source of relief
to troubled souls,
guiding people to
the right path,
assuring that
they are on the right path,
indicating that journey
of life
is only partly covered.
