Wish this Diwali, and

every other festival in

future, come let us

celebrate like yore,

with extended family,

relatives friends neighbors,

bonding was for sure,

happiness of festivities

would swallow, as a

moral duty, sorrow pain

of a disturbed troubled family,

caring for each other’s worries,

covering each other’s woes,

humanity was in the core,

all coming together,

to celebrate as one;

 

Wish this Diwali,

we celebrate like yore,

colorful rangoli designs,

decoration near front door,

old n young sitting together,

preparing festive special treats,

fragrance wafting out, tingling

tastebuds of neighborhood,

of sweet & namkeen savories,

coming their way;

 

Wish this Diwali,

we celebrate like yore,

wearing new clothes,

visiting friend’s families,

would fill us with joy,

loading us to the gills,

with sweet namkeens drinks,

wishing one and all,

Happy Diwali Happy Diwali;

 

Wish this Diwali,

we celebrate like yore,

not to be blinded by glare

of vulgar pomp and show,

we had limited resources,

we had limited choices,

our sparkle glitter glow

was of camaraderie

love peace n harmony,

crackle of unbridled

glee joy n happiness,

added brightness to diyas;

 

Wish this Diwali,

we celebrate like yore,

burst darkness of hatred

with light of humanity,

wishing everybody,

one and all, a long life

full of good health,

love peace harmony

full of prosperity, and

you always be surrounded

by the love of your loved ones.
