ROSE
Is it its mild lingering fragrance,
or its not too obvious shape,
or the way it is perched
majestically at top of stem;
Or is it its simplicity,
that pricks everybody’s fancy,
sense of possession,
neglecting other more exotic
creations of nature;
We crave to go near it, but
distance is needed
for it to bloom;
to admire its glowing beauty,
it has to be properly
nourished & groomed;
Tender care brings out,
inviting fragrance,
enticing sweetness,
attracting numerous admirers;
It is plucked in full bloom
from its majestic perch,
trying to quench
thirst for possession,
trying to adorn
crown of thorns;
Leaving behind numerous
admirers with a sigh,
till it withers & dies,
under the loving care
of the possessor.
