MUMBAIKAR

Mumbaikar Mumbaikar

we know we are special,

we have spirit,

we have guts,

we dare death, Daily

we glare at fear;

Floods cannot dampen us,

bombs could not shred us,

riots could not tear us apart,

terror attack we bravely faced,

hatred could not replace

bonds of love;

Mumbaikar Mumbaikar

we know we are one

different languages different caste

different religion different past

different states we come from,

we didn`t grow in Mumbai

Mumbai grew in all,

nurturing one and all;

Mumbaikar Mumbaikar

we know we are number one

we know life is a struggle,

we have learned

to fight daily battles,

bravely we have fought,

crossed many hurdles;

Mumbaikar Mumbaikar

together we can

defeat this scare, will

win with little care,

we know we have resilience,

to reclaim life, regain happiness.

DAHISAR & ME GREW TOGETHER More than 70 years ago my Grandparents, Paternal (Bedi’s) & Maternal (Punjabi’s), settled in Dahisar. Dahisar, an idyllic village was the entry point station of Mahanagar Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay. Dahisar was a small village within a mega city.
